Worth the One
Scripture Reading
“Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them.
Does he not leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it?”

Devotional Thought
Jesus told this story to reveal something radical about the heart of God:
No one is expendable. No one is invisible. No one is too far gone.
From a worldly perspective, leaving ninety-nine to search for one sounds inefficient — even irresponsible. But Kingdom math doesn’t work like human logic. Jesus measures worth differently. To Him, one life is always worth the pursuit.
This truth sits at the heart of our work with Free International. When we search for the exploited, the trafficked, the overlooked, and the forgotten, we are reflecting the Shepherd’s heart. We don’t go because it’s easy. We go because someone matters.
The one may never know your name.
The one may never thank you.
The one may not even realize they’re being sought.
But Jesus sees them — and He goes.
When we follow Christ, justice becomes personal. Mercy becomes intentional. Humility becomes necessary. We step away from comfort and into compassion because love always moves toward the lost.
This week, remember:
You may feel small.
Your obedience may feel unseen.
Your impact may feel insignificant.
But heaven celebrates every time one is found.

Who might be the “one” God is placing on your heart right now?
What comfort or convenience might God be asking you to leave behind?
How does remembering Jesus’ pursuit change the way you see people on the margins?
Prayer
Jesus, thank You for coming after me when I was lost. Give me Your eyes to see the one who is hurting, overlooked, or forgotten. Help me follow You beyond comfort and into compassion, trusting that no act of obedience is wasted in Your Kingdom. Amen.
