Scripture Reading
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” – Psalm 34:18
God’s Nearness in Our Pain
Heartbreak takes many forms—loss, betrayal, abuse, or exploitation. For those who have been wounded deeply, life can feel shattered beyond repair. Human trafficking leaves behind broken hearts and crushed spirits, not only for victims but for families and communities who grieve with them.
Psalm 34:18 is a tender reminder that God does not turn away from the brokenhearted. He draws near. In moments of deepest pain, His presence is closest. The world may overlook or abandon the wounded, but the Lord moves toward them with compassion and healing.
The Hope That Heals
Hope in Christ is not shallow optimism—it is the confident assurance that God redeems what is broken. He binds up wounds, restores dignity, and brings beauty from ashes (Isaiah 61:3).
For survivors of trafficking, healing may be a long journey. Yet every step forward testifies to God’s nearness and power. For all who feel crushed in spirit, hope is found in Jesus—the One who understands suffering and offers restoration.
Our Call to Carry Hope
As the body of Christ, we are called to reflect God’s nearness to the brokenhearted. This means:
Listening – Offering presence without judgment to those who are hurting.
Encouraging – Reminding survivors and the weary that God is not finished with their story.
Supporting – Partnering with ministries that provide counseling, safe housing, and resources for healing.
When we draw near to the brokenhearted, we embody the very heart of Christ.
Prayer
Father,
Thank You for being close to the brokenhearted. Today, we lift up all those wounded by exploitation and trafficking. Surround them with Your healing presence. Restore what has been lost and mend what has been shattered. Teach us to be vessels of Your hope and comfort. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Action Steps
Encourage Someone – Send a note, prayer, or Scripture to someone walking through pain.
Learn and Support – Research local ministries that serve survivors of trauma and consider volunteering or giving.
Pray Psalm 34:18 – Declare God’s promise of closeness over those who feel crushed in spirit.
