Scripture Reading
“I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one.” – Ezekiel 22:30
Devotional Thought
After Jesus shows us the value of the one, He invites us to step into the space where help is needed most — the gap.
A gap is where protection is missing.
A gap is where vulnerability lives.
A gap is where danger meets opportunity.
In our work with Free International, we encounter gaps every day — gaps in safety, support, advocacy, and hope. These are the spaces where traffickers exploit, where fear silences, and where broken systems fail to protect the vulnerable.
God’s question in Ezekiel still echoes today:
Who will stand in the gap?
Standing in the gap doesn’t require perfection. It requires availability. It looks like showing up when it would be easier to stay comfortable. It means praying when others ignore, speaking when others remain silent, and protecting when others look away.
Justice doesn’t begin with systems — it begins with surrendered hearts willing to step forward.
This week, remember that God is still searching for people who will stand in the gap — not to be heroes, but to be faithful. When we say yes, we become part of His rescue work, carrying light into the darkest places.
Reflection Questions
Where do you see gaps of protection, care, or justice around you?
What fears or hesitations might be keeping you from stepping forward?
How can prayer and action work together as you stand in the gap for others?
Prayer
Lord, here I am. Use me to stand in the gap where others are hurting. Give me courage to show up, compassion to stay present, and wisdom to act with love and humility. Let my life reflect Your heart for justice and restoration. Amen.
Your partnership helps bring light into some of the darkest places in our nation. By standing with us, you join a movement that rescues, restores, and equips communities to fight human trafficking and exploitation.
