Scripture Reading
“But Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.’” – Matthew 19:14
The Value of Every Child
When Jesus welcomed children, He made a bold cultural statement. In His time, children had little status or voice. Yet Christ declared that the kingdom of heaven belonged to them. His words were not just tender—they were revolutionary.
Today, children remain among the most vulnerable in our world. Human traffickers prey on their innocence, exploiting their need for love, safety, and provision. The International Labour Organization estimates that one in four trafficking victims is a child. Many are forced into labor, sexual exploitation, or domestic servitude.
Jesus’ words in Matthew 19:14 remind us that children are not expendable—they are treasures in the kingdom of God. When they are harmed, the heart of God is deeply grieved.
Our Call to Protect the Vulnerable
As followers of Christ, we are called to protect, nurture, and uplift children. This includes:
Awareness: Understanding that trafficking often hides in plain sight.
Prevention: Supporting families, schools, and ministries that provide safe environments.
Advocacy: Speaking up for those who cannot speak for themselves.
Caring for children is not optional in the Christian life—it is central to the mission of Christ. When we love, protect, and defend the little ones, we reflect the heart of our Savior.
Prayer
Lord Jesus,
You welcomed children when others overlooked them. Today, we pray for the little ones who are vulnerable to trafficking and exploitation. Surround them with protection. Raise up safe adults, ministries, and communities to stand in the gap for them. Use me, Lord, to reflect Your love to the children around me. In Your holy name, amen.
Action Steps
Volunteer Locally – Offer your time to a children’s ministry, school, or mentoring program. Investing in safe spaces for kids reduces vulnerability.
Educate Yourself – Learn the signs of child trafficking so you can recognize and report concerns.
Pray for Children – Dedicate a day this week to fasting or prayer specifically for children at risk.
