Start in the Middle

Scripture Reading

“He has shown you, O man, what is good;
And what does the Lord require of you,
But to act justly, to love mercy,
And to walk humbly with your God?”
— Micah 6:8

Devotional Thought

Most people read Micah 6:8 in order: act justly, love mercy, walk humbly.
But if we’re honest, starting there often leads to the wrong kind of justice — justice shaped by our emotions rather than God’s heart.

That’s why the Lord has been leading us to start in the middle.

Not with justice.
Not with action.
But with mercy.

Mercy softens the heart.
Mercy opens our eyes to the brokenness we once carried.
Mercy reminds us that we’ve been rescued, forgiven, and restored — not because we earned it, but because God is gracious.

Once we love mercy, we learn to walk humbly, because mercy destroys pride. You can’t cling to past sin or judge others harshly when you know how much grace you’ve needed.

And only then — after mercy and humility have done their work — are we ready to act justly.

Not justice fueled by anger…
Not justice driven by superiority…
But justice that mirrors Jesus.

Justice that sees people.
Justice that protects the vulnerable.
Justice that restores, rather than condemns.

This is the pattern Jesus lived.
Mercy → Humility → Justice.

And this is the rhythm we are called to step into as we live out the mission He’s placed in front of us — in our homes, our communities, and through our work with Free International and Say Something.

Start in the middle, and everything else aligns with God's heart.

Reflection Questions

  1. Where do you need to show mercy this week — to yourself or someone else?

  2. How can mercy lead you into deeper humility before God?

  3. What justice is God calling you to step into once mercy and humility are in their proper place?

Prayer

Lord, teach me to love mercy the way You do. Let mercy shape my heart, humility guide my steps, and justice flow from Your Spirit working in me. Align my life with Your rhythm so I can reflect Jesus in everything I do. Amen.

Here’s how your contribution makes a difference:

Your partnership helps bring light into some of the darkest places in our nation. By standing with us, you join a movement that rescues, restores, and equips communities to fight human trafficking and exploitation.

What Your Support Makes Possible:

✅ Leading mission teams into cities most affected by trafficking, bringing hope and practical resources.
✅ Hosting school assemblies that reach thousands of students with life-saving messages about bullying, exploitation, and suicide prevention.
✅ Training teachers and administrators to recognize warning signs and protect vulnerable youth.
✅ Providing resources, aftercare, and long-term hope for survivors of exploitation.

Why Your Support Matters:

  • For Individuals: You can be part of the rescue. Your monthly or one-time gift turns personal compassion into tangible impact, helping survivors and protecting the next generation.

  • For Churches: Partnering allows your congregation to live out the Great Commission by standing against injustice, mobilizing mission teams, and supporting community restoration in cities like Las Vegas and Detroit.

  • For Gyms & Fitness Communities: Fitness for Freedom events allow gyms to raise awareness, host competitions, and show that strength is not just physical—it’s about defending and restoring lives.

✅ All contributions are tax-deductible and processed through Say Something at the link below

Together, we can fight for freedom, protect the vulnerable, and bring hope where it’s needed most.
